I started teaching children who were having difficulty learning English in Saudia Arabia and since then I have taught in many schools both as a mainstream class teacher and Special Education Teacher. I am delighted to be returning to this role in Scoil Naomh Iosef because in our school every child’s talents are appreciated. My job is made easier as the staff work as a team from when your child enters our school. Any concerns that parents may have are discussed with the teachers and together we work on a plan that suits everyone. Nothing succeeds like success. As a school, we provide every opportunity for success for your child.
Here in the senior classes, I seek to provide the children with an ordered, secure environment in which to learn and prepare for secondary school. This is done whilst allowing the children space to both express and enjoy themselves, in order to develop their opinions and personalities before they enter the more “adult” world of second-level education.
Individuality and creativity are fully catered for in our “family-type” setting - we endeavour to make sure that no one is “left behind” or “left out”. Thus I will always take account of any fears or aspirations the pupils or their parents may have.
Ultimately, here in St. Joseph’s, or “Bouleenshere School”, we pride ourselves on a happy, productive environment and busy happy children.
I have taught at all class levels, in multi and single-grade settings. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the experiences, working with children with varying abilities. I have come to realise that every child can and will learn. A teacher must develop a trusting relationship with his or her class respecting their opinions and ideas. Teachers can integrate children’s interests into the curriculum, to help students excel even in areas with which they struggle.
I have experience in both mainstream and SET settings and have worked with multi-grade and single-stream class groupings.
My name is Emer McCarthy and I have been teaching here in Scoil Naomh Iosef for the past seven years. During this time, I have taught in the area of SEN before moving into the junior classroom five years ago. I believe every child is unique and deserves a caring, inspiring, and engaging atmosphere in which to grow emotionally, intellectually, and socially. I strive to create an environment where children feel safe, happy, and confident in their abilities which will allow them to look back with happy memories of their time spent in the junior classroom.
Scoil Naomh Iosef is very fortunate to have Joanne on our staff. Her role is vital to the school and most importantly to the children in her care and their families. Joanne brings both a caring attitude and sensitivity to everything she does. Working with the staff Joanne ensures that the children in her care can achieve their full potential.
She is essential to all aspects of school life- concerts, films, graduations, etc.
Maureen O Mahony & Mary Lucid are our secretaries and they are the first people you will meet/talk to as you make contact with Scoil Naomh Iosef. These two ladies know every child in the school and are in contact daily with parents on various issues. The smooth running of the school could not happen without the caring and professional manner that Maureen & Mary bring to Scoil Naomh Iosef.
Mary & Sonny O Driscoll work quietly and efficiently behind the scenes to make sure that our school is spick and span every day.
